Dennis Lee

Pianist, ABRSM piano examiner and Adjudicator

Dennis Lee was born in Malaysia. On an Associated Board scholarship he studied piano (with Angus Morrison) and violin at the Royal College of Music in London. There he gained Honours diplomas in both instruments, the Tagore Gold Medal for the most outstanding student of the year, the BMus degree with First Class Honours from London University, and the MMusRCM. An Austrian Government scholarship took him to the Akademie in Vienna where, under Josef Dichler, he won the Stepanow Prize. Subequently he studied in Milan, Italy, with Ilonka Deckers-Kuszler.

Dennis Lee has won many competition prizes, e.g. Busoni, Casagrande and Sydney. He has performed with most of the BBC orchestras, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Halle, etc. and appeared at the Royal Festival Hall, Barbican etc. and in festivals like Brighton, Cheltenham, Montreux, Adelaide etc... Overseas concerts have included recitals at the Kennedy Center (Washington DC) and Merkin Hall (New York).

He has judged in many parts of the world, e.g. the Canadian Music Competition, and appeared at the Music Teachers Association of California as Artist in Residence.

Dennis Lee is a Steinway artist. He taught piano at Kingston University music department for many years.

Chee-Hung Tao

Pianist, Teacher, Lecturer and Adjudicator

Singaporean Chee-Hung Toh studied at the Royal Academy of Music, London, where she won many prizes, including the top piano prize for performance. Chee-Hung has performed in London and many parts of Britain, the U.S.A. (where her debut received high acclaim from the New York Times), Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Switzerland, Turkey and the Far East. She has recorded for radio and television in many countries, including B.B.C. Radio 3 and the World Service.

Chee-Hung taught piano at Kingston University music department for many years. She is also in constant demand as a lecturer. She has been invited to the Piano Pedagogy Course for the European Piano Teachers Association, the Cambridge Piano Weekend, HSBC Piano Festival in Kuala Lumpur, to give masterclasses at Hong Kong University, the YST Conservatory and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore, to adjudicate in Britain and abroad (including the Canadian Music Competitions and the Music Teachers Association of California).

Future engagements include recitals in the USA, Canada, Britain and Thailand.
